Buying a Pitbull! Anything I should know?

So, I recently posted a question about buying a Pitbull and I mentioned my age in the question and a few people told me I was too young and irresponsible to own an APBT. I have been told that by many people and it bothers me a lot because a Pitbull is like every other dog if trained right. I have experience with dogs and if you know what your doing age does not matter. The Dog Whisperer himself says that its ALL about your energy. I have control and I am very responsible. I know many people with APBT's and I know that they are one of the best dogs to own. Sorry about the big long speech lol, I just don't want to be told that again by more ignorant people. So PLEASE if you have anything like that to say... don't bother :) Okay so now to the question!! :D I have read up and researched lots about APBT's already I just want to be prepared. So, if you are or have been or know any owners of APBT's please tell me if there are any additional things I need to know about owning a Pitbull besides the obvious? Any special precautions I need to take or things I need to do before bringing a Pitbull into my house? Anything I need to look out for when adopting? Just anything I need to know in general.
