Can I claim Income Support if I have to give up my job to care for my son?

My son is 10 years old and has Aspergers Syndrome which affects his ability to socialise. He has always gone to After School Club/Holiday Club whilst I'm at work but recently has become very unsettled there. If I gave up my job to be at home for him then would I be able to claim Income Support or an alternative benefit straightaway.
