Should I get a Doberman as a pet?

I live alone and because of this I get bored and lonely. I've always wanted a doberman mostly because they are loyal and energetic. But I've heard that they do get a bit unsettled when left alone for to long period of time. I'm a student and my class schedule is both hectic and empty at times. Most of the time I'm just working part-time to pay tuition. Would it be fine to leave him alone for the least of 8 hours alone? or should i think about getting another kind of dog?
